Because we encompass all the different photographic disciplines required to create and produce the best quality wedding photography. The challenge of covering and making beautiful images at an unrepeatable event is exciting to us. We enjoy the spontaneity of the image making, the process of creating a visual story and most of all we love looking at the finished product, a beautifully produced book full of memories.
If you have a small wedding planned and only want part of the day recorded, then you probably only do need one photographer. (We can also do this for you). But if you have a large wedding planned, say 100 –200 people, and would like the whole day documented, then it is a wise idea to have two photographers. Even the best photographer in the world cannot be in two places at once. The start of your wedding day
follows the individual stories of two people, becoming their story together as the day progresses.
There are other benefits; we can shoot the same shot from different angles and using different lenses.
For parts of the day, one of us will have the role of photographer’s assistant to help with lighting equipment, reflectors, and organising groups, all of which will be essential achieving the best results.
We like to shoot a mixture of photographs, including formal portraiture and group shots.
When one of us is focusing on these, it’s a great time for the other to shoot photojournalism style photos.
So, for a more comprehensive and complete story of your day we recommend you have two photographers.
Yes. Some wedding photographers also call themselves ‘photojournalists,’ with very little experience in bona fide news gathering and little knowledge of taking reportage style photographs. Combine this lack of ability with inexperience in formal portraiture, and you are in big trouble! We are both full time photographers who have worked in the media for a long time. See our biography pages for more details.
You can have as much or as little input as you want. We will provide you with a comprehensive list of different shots if you want us to. If you require a lot of group shots we would ask for a list, and a dedicated usher to help out with tracking down camera-shy relatives! You are welcome to show us any wedding photos that have inspired you, and we’ll come up with an original interpretation for your own wedding. You should also have a plan B, in case the weather is not perfect.
Spontaneity, style and sparkle.
Whilst we welcome your input and creative ideas for your wedding photos, there are many things to consider. For technical reasons some pictures you require may be difficult to take, if the light or background is unflattering for a portrait, for example. It’s our job to give advice in these situations.
If you would like us to manage events, we will do so without being “bossy photographers”. We are equally happy to fade into the background, and let the day unfold in front of our cameras with no interruption from ourselves. We can be as discreet as you want us to be. However, if you require a group shot of the whole 200 guests at your wedding, we may occasionally turn up the volume!
We need as much information as possible about your day, such as venue addresses and their web sites and postcodes. Mobile phone no’s of Bride & Groom and anyone else closely involved with the organising of your wedding, (if they are happy with that). A list of timings and events throughout the day. We would also appreciate guidance on what photography is and isn't permitted in the venue you are getting married in, when it is appropriate to take photos and when not to. Different faiths have different rules, and also the same faiths have different rules at times.
Yes. Once we have confirmed your date and booking you will be asked to pay a 50% deposit and sign a contract. We will give you a form to fill out with some details about the day, and also supply you with our terms and conditions. The 50% balance one week before the wedding.
Yes. We would endeavour to meet any couple we are photographing, (included in the price of your wedding), so you can get to know us, and find out a bit more about what will happen on your big day. You can come to our office in Hoxton or we will meet you. We will also bring with us samples of the different wedding books we produce.
Yes. Please contact us for a quotation.
We are based in London and Middlesex, but will happily travel to areas such as Surrey, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire, Sussex, Kent, Buckinghamshire & Essex. We will also consider requests for wedding photography anywhere else in the UK and even abroad. There would be further charges for this however. Please contact us for a quote for a wedding abroad, or in the remote highlands of Scotland!
All the photos on this site are either taken by John or Ashley, who are both very experienced photographers. They will both attend your wedding. There will be no photographer or assistant that you haven't met, (unless there is some unforeseen problem, such as illness, then we would call in another photographer. We know many experienced photographers, so rest assured, this wouldn’t be a problem).
Yes. The absolute minimum we offer is a DVD and online gallery of your photographs. This will be edited by us & digitally enhanced. We will have removed duplicate shots and any inferior images. The DVD will contain full resolution * limited copyright photos. * The photographers are still the copyright holders of the images. You are free to use the images on the DVD to make your own prints, distribute them among relatives & friends, use them on your own web site or even an alternative print vendor’s site to the one we use. You cannot, however, sell the images to publishers or use them in any promotional way without consent from the photographers.
Yes, covering us for 2 million pounds.
No, we don't do video. We are trained still photographers and whilst we have made videos and undergone training for this medium, still photography is what makes us tick! We can recommend documentary film makers to you, though.
No. They are flexible. It would be too complicated to give you all the options if you had to factor in the different types of wedding books we include in each package. These are guideline prices and can be altered to include extra hours, the inclusion or exclusion of books. We can also quote you for just one photographer working alone, with just a DVD of the photos, although we do prefer to work as a team. Contact us and we will give you our best price.
The online gallery will be created first. This will normally be within a week, so hopefully you will be able to see the images on your honeymoon, (unless you are on a climbing holiday in the Himalayas and have forgotten your satellite phone and laptop). The DVD and prints will be sent out in 1-2 weeks.
The books can take a bit longer. The design and proof process is discussed below, but we are able to design your book in 1-2 days. You then have to approve the proofs and suggest any changes. Once the proofs have been approved and they have gone to print, it should take from 1 - 4 weeks, (depending on the book manufacturer).
That’s best discussed in person or over the phone. But, basically, if you have opted for a package which includes a book, we would like to fulfil that obligation as soon as possible, for obvious reasons.
There are two ways round this. You trust our good taste and judgement and WE choose the photographs that are going into the book. You then get to approve the book and remove any pictures you’d prefer not to use, at no extra cost, and within a couple of months you have a stunning book full of happy memories!
Alternatively you choose all the pictures you want in the book, let us know within an agreed period of time and then we’ll make up the book for you, but we will unfortunately then have to charge you for any changes you make.
The books can be viewed online via pageflip software, or we can provide a link to a downloadable pdf document.
We are passionate about what we do, and are committed to producing the best quality product for you. One which will be a memorable and fitting reminder in the years to come. We also want you to enjoy your day without having to worry about pushy, objectionable photographers. We are friendly and approachable, but hopefully, most of the time, you will not even notice we are there.
